Hi, I'm a Finnish Espoo (eller Esbo på Svenska) Blues supporter. My English isn't perfect but definitely better than my Swedish... Was interested to read about your opinions about Jimmy (thats his nickname, Kurki means crane/kranen btw). I think that Expressen's headline is a joke, he's not a "star" player but should be good for Allsvenskan. He's very experienced if you look at his age. Almost 300 SM-liiga matches.
Kurki's strengths and weaknesses: skating definitely is the biggest. He was the quickest guy on our team and makes nice coast-to-coast moves carrying the puck to the attackin zone. He's a strong guy, but because of being only 179 cm it's natural he's sometimes in problems at defense. I'm very happy though he got the chance from KHK as his now 25 yrs old and hasn't developed much in the past few years - which is pretty natural in my opinion if you play in the same place for too long time. His shot isn't special, Don't be too excited about Kurki, he's a decent player and especially a great guy, great team player, but definitely not a star. It's always a mystery though how does players adapt to new leagues and teams, will be very interesting to see how he does at ur team!
By the way, he scored an awesome goal, the only in the playoffs, and played one of his best matches in the SM-liiga bronze medal match (though many of the players looked like they coulndn't care less and the level of the match wasnt that high). www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMA2ecCOmAA&t=2m35s
Greetings, have a good next season!
